The end of something old brings the beginning of something new. Old adventures lead to new opportunities. It’s 11:00 p.m. on a Thursday evening and my brain has been attempting to process something rather difficult for the last two months. Keeping those that we love and care for close can be a challenging task to do but an even harder one to accomplish when having to let go. During the last eight years of my Life I was a part of something spectacular, comforting, and a big part of my early 20’s.
Over the last couple years though there were some significant changes that occurred in my Life. Some were good and others were bad for the most part. Later in 2010 I had the privilege to witness the marriage of my younger and only sister to the love of her Life. Something that you don’t see happen often especially in a country where the divorce rate has hit over 60% and it seems like a normal thing to do. As Life partners it seems that we have lost the will and drive to communicate, respect, and cherish each other like human beings should do. It’s my outlook on the situation based on experience anyway.
An eight year old journey has come to an end for me. One that I did not choose to end but a mutual agreement was reached and caused for that to occur. Like I said above letting go ones that we love can be an emotional process that will take time to heal. One of the hardest things to overcome is the moments, memories, and flashbacks that run thru your mind at 100 miles an hour. Are we emotionally indestructible? No, we are not. Even the coldest and most stable of human beings have feelings and emotions that they reach out to regardless of their outlook on Life.
Out with The Old, In with The New
It’s easier said than done in most cases. Moving on with your Life post-emotional tragedy has its drawbacks. Everything you do seems abnormal and perhaps awkward to add to it. Time heals old wounds and we move onto other things. As human beings it’s in our nature to overcome barriers and reach for new heights. All I can say is that now I can relate to others that have been thru the same situation and experienced such heartache.
