Is resilience the answer?
RESILIENCE is the driving force behind everything. Your dreams. Your goals.
In life and business, you must have a strong drive for resilience to accomplish the things you want.
The main problem is that many people seek to accomplish their dreams or build a legacy but run out of steam halfway through. Some people simply quit before they’ve even started. I see this every day!
Cycling for mind therapy.
Recently I went out for a bike ride. For those of you who don’t know me very well, I’ve been a cyclist for the last five years. Back in late 2013, I purchased a road bike for a few hundred bucks. One that I still have to this day and has served me quite well if I might add.
It was, in fact, quite the random act of choice to even consider cycling. I’m not quite sure to this day what enticed me to take it up but I did. In some retrospect maybe it was about exercise or maybe because it was about mind therapy. It was mainly about exercise from the beginning. Later on, after some time it morphed into mind therapy.
The pursuit of resilience.
A lot has happened with my cycling over the past five years. I’ve grown significantly. What started out as a 5-mile ride turned into 10 miles. Those 10 miles turned into 15 miles and before long I’m pushing 30+ miles on a single ride.
This past weekend I ended up cycling over 30+ miles on a single ride..
RESILIENCE!
You see, what started out as a simple cycling exercise turned into mind therapy and now it’s simply a routine for me. A part of my lifestyle. Something that I almost religiously engage in at least once weekly.
What I forgot to tell you though is that I cycled another 20 miles earlier this past week. That puts me at over 50 miles per week in cycling.
Keep pushing, no matter what!
You want something bad enough? You need to chase it. You need to do whatever it takes to get it. Whether it’s something in life or business, resilience has everything to do with it.
These days I see a lot of people in social media who whine and moan about their lives. They spend more time complaining instead of investing their time and energy on the things that matter most.
The reason why 96% of people in business fail is because they’re not resilient enough to do the things necessary to reach their dreams. To reach their goals.
Look, if building a business was so simple, everyone would be doing it. That’s not the case though. A vast majority of people on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn are gazed by the bullshit others are posting and simply misleading them.
- It’s supposed to be hard.
- Chasing your dreams is supposed to be f*cking hard.
- Getting the things you want will be significantly different from what others want in life.
The conclusion!
If I knew about resilience 20 years or so I’d be a billionaire by now. I follow some of the most successful people on this planet. I have been for quite some time. The constant here is resilience. It’s the single most frequent thing that comes up in every single discussion, article, podcast, video out there. Regardless of what you want to do in life or business.
Keep going. Don’t give up. No matter what the circumstances.
How bad do you want to accomplish what you’re after?
Before I wrap things up in this blog post I encourage you to watch the movie The Pursuit of Happyness. It’s based on a true story that talks about resilience. Every. Little. Bit of it.
